There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which casino wagering is not legal. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in a prime destination, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and even though visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is real of most borders.

The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary barge casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that contains many comforts accompanying the gambling hall, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
