There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is prohibited. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a generally tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and even though visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is correct of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel compound that features a number of amenities aside from the gambling den, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 tables.
